Blind Pass is so much more than a romcom; it’s laughter and feels, witty banter and insecurities, it’s everything.
Hunter delivers her personal brand of witty banter and a level of raw emotion that took my breath away. In between the clever dialogue is a beautiful lesson on how what we see as our biggest flaw, someone else sees as our best feature.
Ryan has been getting sucker punched by life lately, so she decides to spend some time in Vegas to drown out reality (with a lot of alcohol) before returning home to face it. She was sass and sunshine, and her personality shone through even when the weight of the world was on her shoulders. I have a massive crush on her.
Rhodes is growly, like for real. He’s grumpy and scowly, and the more you read, the more you understand. His identity was stripped from him at a vulnerable age, and we all know that teenagers aren’t always the most accepting. He’d spent years perfecting how he presented himself, and it was all based on keeping the rest of the world at a distance.
From the start, Rhodes and Ryan’s chemistry is palpable, and with every small touch, every word exchanged, and even when no words are exchanged, it evolves into a more passionate connection. It’s in the way they make each other feel safe, supported, and accepted for exactly who they are, every single broken part of them. This is more of a “slow-volcano,” with an epic buildup that culminates in a volcanic eruption of steamy hotness.
The story of Rhodes and Ryan engulfed me, heart and soul. While this is a work of fiction, many of the emotions and insecurities inside are ones to which many people can relate, and along with the rawness of those, they are lessons that we should all take to heart.
With Blind Pass, Hunter completed a hat trick. A witty, hot AF slow-burn with an overwhelming level of emotion. I’m in awe of these characters, the emotions, and the lesson that I’ll keep firmly grasped, in my head and in my heart, as a reminder that what we see as our greatest flaws, others see as our most beautiful characteristics.
