Defiant Heir is unequivocally my favorite in The Heirs series.
Kao is quiet, an introvert, a gentleman to his very core then in the blink of an eye, he becomes the opposite of who he is. Fallon is outgoing, kind, blunt, a pillar of strength to the group of friends.
I fell in love with Kao and Fallon in the very first chapter, the bond they shared and the intensity of their feelings was palpable then in a moment the start of them was shattered by a tragic event.
Kao and Fallon’s story pulls you in immediately with a stranglehold on your emotions. Their pain, inner turmoil, and an array of other emotions the characters experience was exceptionally articulated by the author that their emotions flowed through me as if they were my own.
Following the devastating emotions, you are right there when Kao and Fallon begin again. Fallon and Kao’s bond became even stronger as they shared their fears and dug deeper into the emotional side of their connection. It was remarkably clear that they were soul mates, two halves of one soul.
The dynamics of this group with their unshakable loyalty, unconditional love, witty banter, and unrelenting emotional support they provide one another is another element of this series that will have you hoping that the end of each story doesn’t come.
Defiant Heirs is a consuming, unstoppable emotional roller coaster that destroyed me ultimately piecing me back together with their recovery, Kao’s ability to make me swoon so hard a few tears leaked out.
