Glove Save by Teagan Hunter ~ Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Glove Save is without question my new favorite book in the Carolina Comets series. Hunter has created something truly magical with each of the characters in this series, but Greer, Stevie, and Macie had something extraordinarily special that set them apart from the others.

Stevie is a single mom whose sole focus is her daughter. She wasn’t looking for love, and especially not with a grumpy hockey star. I already loved Stevie and Macie from their appearances in the previous books, but to be honest, I don’t think it showed the true depth of the special mother-daughter relationship they had. They were both witty and fiery, and it made for some especially entertaining dialogue.

Greer was grumpy, which, to be fair, we already knew. But there was so much more to him than that. He stole my heart in his previous interactions with Macie, but in the pages of Glove Save, he proved to be one swoony mother pucker. His connection with Macie was just as palpable as his connection with Stevie, and I always find that to be an important part of single-parent romances. Hunter did a phenomenal job of allowing you to feel both connections from the moment they met, and then they both became stronger as they built on them.

The players and their significant others are such an insanely eclectic mix of unique personalities that have come together to build the Comets’ family. With every book, within a few words, you feel like you’re surrounded by friends who have become family.

Greer and Stevie’s chemistry was palpable in the previous books, but it was nothing compared to what was really between them. There was a major push and pull between them, as neither was willing to see that what they were starting was always more than either of them was ready to admit. The magnetic pull between them was a painful ebb and flow of their passionate physical chemistry, while they tried to keep the emotional at bay. It brought more than one tear to my eye.

Glove Save is my new favorite in the Carolina Comets series and a top read for 2023. A spellbinding combination of magnetic chemistry, a sassy heroine, a grumpy yet swoony hero, a sarcastic kid, witty banter, sprinkles of feels, and uber-hot steam.

About the book

I’ve been told I’m the grumpiest goalie in the league, and that may be the case, but who cares when I’m also killing it this season? The Carolina Comets are currently on a record-breaking run, and I intend to keep it that way.

This means the last thing I need is distractions, but my mother didn’t get that memo. She’s getting married, and after the fiasco I caused at her last wedding, I’m required to bring a date.

That would be easy, except for one little thing: I don’t date.

So why is the only person I want to take a single mom who can’t stand me?

We’re a horrible match, and it makes no sense that I’d be into her. But the more time we spend together, the more it’s starting to look like this might be one game I can’t win.
