I thought that it was about time I started sharing my experiences that led me into the transition from reader to blogger and finally to a dream job I didn’t realize I had.
There were a series of unfortunate events that brought me here, but since they are things I can’t do anything about, I decided I would start to share some of my story. It’s not always pretty, but life seldom is. It’s what you make of it. I choose love, laughter, and books.
This was the beginning of what gave me the push I needed to start a blog. I had contemplated it over the years, but I wanted something different. I just didn’t know what that would be, until I did, and it came from the least likely of places.
In the summer of 2018, I was very anxiously counting down to the release of a book in my all-time favorite series. I made sure everyone in my family knew the date and that, for all intents and purposes, I might as well be invisible to them on that day. I didn’t want any interruptions. I wanted to peacefully devour Talk Nerdy to Me by C.M. Owens.
In the days that followed the release, my husband was saying little things that sounded familiar, but it never crossed my mind that it was from the book I had just finished. On the third day, he made it obvious that he was in fact dropping little hints that he had read the book. Pretty swoony, right? It was the 12th book in the series, so I somehow convinced him to start from the beginning.
As he read, I posted little updates in the author’s reader group, and since everyone seemed to enjoy his thoughts and opinions on the characters we all love so much, I continued to add books on his kindle app, and as he read some of my favorites, I continued to share his opinions and reactions in the different reader groups.
If you haven’t read the Sterling Shore series, I highly recommend it. The series follows a close-knit group of friends, and although each book is a standalone, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not reading them in order. Each book features a couple who gets their happily ever after, but you also get to see the group of friends progress within each story. The friends grow closer; you see their ups and downs; and you see the way they go from friends to a family. There are tons of laughs and heartbreak, along with superbly addictive storylines. The character development is absolutely astounding. Owens had a talent that was beyond magical.
You can find the Sterling Shore series below, and if you check it out, be sure to let me know. #ReadingHusband’s favorite book is Perfectly Toxic, book 9 in the series. Join my Facebook group HERE if you want to interact with him or hear his thoughts on his current reads.
