I wish I could give this more than 5 stars this is a top read of 2020 and a top read of all time. There isn’t another author on the planet that can break me as eloquently as Jay McLean, more than a love story, it’s painstakingly real, life’s tragedies, the overwhelming internal battles they face reach the depths of your soul. I felt a connection to Mia that was much deeper than a connection to a character in a book because some of her troubles could have been taken straight out of my life. I loved Leo and Mia seeing their connection evolve from childhood into new adult and young adult I think it makes the impact of the emotions stronger as Jay McLean paints this picture with her words. Jay’s characters always feel real they are just people trying to survive all the things life is constantly throwing at us and it’s never easy but they always fight. With as much pain Leo and Mia dealt with there was also a lot of good there easy banter and stolen moments those were the moments that started mending my heart. I don’t think I have ever cried so much reading a book in my life. Mia and Leo’s heartbreaking journey didn’t just break my heart it took a piece of my soul that part will forever be left in the pages with these characters.
