Off Side with #55 packed an emotional punch along with laugh-out-loud moments, witty banter, and uber hot steam. I can’t imagine a better way to bring this series to an end.
Rayne drew readers in with the blazing chemistry between Jana and Kane, and turned it into a literary slow-burn. They were fiery chemistry and ice cold hearts, all physical and no emotions involved, but it was only a matter of time before the fire melted those icy hearts. Saving them for last was a sure way to give readers literary blueballs, but oh it was so worth it. Dare I say you’ll be completely satisfied?
Jana had big shoes to fill, and the pressure was even greater. Her decisions and every move she made were scrutinized. She was born to be a lady boss, not because of her father, but because of the woman she is. She was strong, sassy, and stubborn. She was ambitious, determined to show everyone who doubted her abilities how wrong they were.
Kane was broody with a side of swoony. He was a man shaped by his past. He had reasons for being closed off, and my heart ached for him. He and Jana were similar in the way they were guarded, keeping intimate details of their lives tucked away. Then, Kane was open to more with Jana, and the determination he had made my ovaries explode. What’s hotter than a man who knows what he wants and will bide his time until she’s his?
The moment Kane and Jana were introduced, the chemistry between them was palpable. Then their roles on the team put a stop to the physical, and all that seemed to do was fuel the fiery chemistry they shared. The connection they shared became deeper and more ingrained into their souls.
I wasn’t prepared for how these characters would overtake my emotions. The story held the witty charm I expect when reading a novel by this duo, but there was more than that. The emotions of Kane and Jana will weave themselves around your heart in a way that will be sure to stay with you long after you reach the end.
Off Side with #55 was such an amazingly fitting end to the Hockey Hotties series. A captivating blend of heart, heat, and humor. I’m excited to see what’s to come from this duo, and the next addicting series they create.
