Sexy Beast by Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne ~ Review

When it comes to saving the best for last, Sexy Beast epitomizes the phrase. This series seemed to come full circle, and I can’t think of a more fitting conclusion to this addictive series.

If you’ve read the previous books in the series, I’m sure Ricky has piqued your interest as much as he has mine. His life was different from the others in the #GoldenCrew, and as a result, his character always stood out to me. He had to worry about his family’s safety, which gave him a dark side to his personality. He owned it. He had love and loyalty coursing through his veins, and he would do anything to keep them safe.

Dez had suffered a devastating loss, and she was determined to find out who was responsible. She was my favorite. She was focused on one thing, but when her plans and life were thrown for a loop, she effortlessly changed course. Had it not been for her knowing how highly Ricky was regarded by her father, I’m not sure that would have happened.

There’s no doubt in my mind that everything that happened in Dez and Ricky’s lives was designed to bring them together. The tension between them is palpable the moment their gazes meet. Every interaction between them nourished the bond they shared. Ricky’s inherent fierce protectiveness, which was the foundation of who he was, helped to heal some of the pain from Dez’s loss. They found home in each other’s arms.

I can’t wait to see what’s to come from this author duo. Each book seems more magical than the previous, and once you start, you won’t stop until you’ve read every word.

Sexy Beast is the epitome of saving the best for last. An all-consuming blend of exhilarating chemistry, an alpha AF, swoony anti-hero, a sassy heroine, witty banter, heart-pounding twists and thrilling turns, and steam, all set in a world brimming with love and loyalty, amongst friends who become family. #GoldenCrew

Ricky Ruiz—ruthless kingpin, reclusive heir, the one man I can’t seem to outrun.

Rumors buzz when a pic of me buying a pregnancy test goes viral. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if, roughly one month ago, I wasn’t also spotted with the new top-dog of Cypress Pointe’s most notorious crime family.

The same crime family my father dedicated his entire law enforcement career trying to bring to their knees.

Ricky inherited the money, the houses, the cars, but he also inherited the danger. He sleeps with one eye open and one finger on the trigger. So, when my name starts popping up alongside his on social media, the beast awakens, convinced there’s now a target on my back, too.

He’s not big on patience or subtlety, which I realize when I come home to find him waiting in a dark corner of my apartment, in no mood for a debate. He’s on a mission to collect what he believes is his.

My father warned me about the Ruiz family. If I’d listened, I might not be locked in a room inside Ricky’s home, I’d still have the job he decided to quit for me, and I’d still have my freedom.

I have no plans to be Ricky’s caged bird. Not even with an army of street soldiers at his disposal. He’d beg to differ. According to him, it’s just a matter of time before I give in and admit what he claims to have known from the beginning.

That I’m already his.
Trigger Warning: Ricky lives up to his reputation, so if you’re sensitive to excessive, explicit violence, you might want to pass this one up. There are also situations that may be triggering for those who have experienced pregnancy-related trauma. Reader discretion is advised.
SEXY BEAST is a full-length standalone novel (95k+ words). This book can absolutely be read on its own, but for the sake of flow and clarity, you could start with THE GOLDEN BOYS (a bully romance trilogy within this series).

Are you into hot romances with alpha-male crime bosses? Then, you’ll love getting to know Ricky Ruiz.
