Smoke Carelli lived by his own rules.
He wasn’t interested in normal.
He didn’t care about things like love and commitment, damn sure not marriage and forever.
But the second Maggie Ramirez parked outside his family’s restaurant, his life became a series of distractions he was learning to love. Maggie and her kid have shaken up his world and dislodged every hard and fast rule he’d ever made.
And when the demons from her past resurface, Smoke and Maggie may have to break more than their own rules to win their freedom.
But will it cost them everything and everyone they love?

Smoke was an excellent start to The Carelli Family Saga. Maggie is a fairly new to town, single mom. She was feisty, stubborn, and a bit mysterious. She had been embraced by the town and she had been taken into the Carelli family and loved as one of their own. Smoke lived his life in the grey, things are rarely black and white. He was an alpha, bossy, and a bad guy that wasn’t all bad. He had a fierce protective side for the people he loved, Maggie and Mateo were at the top of the list. Smoke and Maggie had a burning chemistry from the very start. I was quickly pulled into this world as this author made you feel like you were right there beside these characters. While Maggie and Smoke began to form a more intense emotional connection you could feel the burn much hotter. The banter between the family was full of entertainment and little bits of information dropped to leave you intrigued wanting to know more of their story. The dynamic between Smoke and Mateo was enough to have me swooning for days. The flow of the story line kept me immersed in this world from the first word to the last. Smoke was an entrancing blend of exhilarating chemistry, alpha hero, feisty heroine, amusing banter, suspense, mystery, steam, and feels. |
