Sneaking around with #34 by Piper Rayne ~ Review

In the Hockey Hotties series, Sneaking Around With #34 is my new favorite. Imogen and Warner’s story was a perfect example of a second chance romance.

If you’ve read the previous books in the Hockey Hotties series, I’m sure you’re as intrigued as I was by Imogen and Warner’s story; not only did Rayne deliver, but they blew any expectations I had for this heartbreaking second chance love story.

Did I mention the bromance on a second chance? Because it was my favorite, oh my stars and lady bits.

Imogen learned a valuable lesson at a young age: keep your heart safe from heartbreak. The only problem was that the boy who taught her the lesson had been traded to the team she had just started working for, and there was no denying that her broken heart was still intertwined with his. Imogen was both sweet and sassy. When it came to Warner, she did her best to keep her distance, but fate seemed to take over.

Warner had me hook, line, and sinker, the way he loved his mom and siblings with such fierceness stole my whole entire heart. So when he started his mission to get Imogen back, I was done, there’s no coming back from it, he out book boyfriend all the book boyfriends.

Chemistry level: they couldn’t be around one another at the hockey arena due to all the ice melting. It was a safety hazard. It was clear the heartbreak of their past had never really been reconciled, you could feel the tension in the air between them as well as the longing. What had happened in the past, as well as the years apart, had done nothing to dampen the blazing chemistry they shared.

I think there’s a fine line when it comes to second chance, and I felt like Rayne did a superb job of allowing the readers to feel the intensity between Warner and Imogen from the start, but also making their second chance “believable,” as in there was regret, apologies, and forgiveness woven into the story. I loved feeling as though as a reader we are a part of their reconnecting and loving one another as who they are now. It was sweet, and Warner was swoony.

When reading a novel by this duo within a few words, you feel a sense of peace that’s hard to describe. It’s like walking into a house and immediately feeling at home, and the characters, whether it’s a small town or sports, have a way of wrapping you up in the unconditional love they have for one another.

Sneaking Around With #34 is my new favorite in the Hockey Hotties series. An exhilarating combination of blazing chemistry, a swoony hero, a sassy heroine, splashes of feels, and steam. Set in a world of unconditional love, this team engulfs you in their bond. Bonus: second chance bromance that adds a level of swoony hotness I never knew existed.

I have a reputation for being tight-lipped. You learn quick when you become a professional hockey player to be guarded with the media, so I’ve worked hard to cover up the mistakes of my youth.

But when I’m traded to the Florida Fury, where my ex-best friend is the starting right wing, I’m forced to confront my past. Ford and I have a lot of history, especially when it comes to his little sister, Imogen.

My heart still lurches in my chest when I see her.
My hands want to reach out and touch her.
My mouth wants to keep apologizing.

She’s the only woman who ever made me want more. But she’s also the one who fell victim to my most regrettable decision.

I’m not a believer in fate, but I must be back in her world for a reason. I’ve fought for everything I’ve gotten and I’m not backing down from what I know will be the best thing in my life.
